The next big thing in the Rohit Shetty cop universe is Sooryavanshi that has the backing of some of the biggest production houses in B-town, including Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. However, rumour has it that Johar has been dropped from the film, which has spread like wildfire on social media.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh then spoke up and clarified that Johar is still very much a part of the project.

“IMPORTANT... News doing the rounds of #KaranJohar not being part of #Sooryavanshi is untrue, clarifies #RelianceEntertainment(sic),” he tweeted.

Since the sudden demise of Sushant Singh Rajput, the Dharma head honcho has been at the receiving end of a lot of hate and has been accused of supporting nepotism in Bollywood and promoting only star kids. All these hate comments and accusations led to a fiery debate on Bollywood’s treatment of outsiders.

Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi stars Akshay Kumar and will also have Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh in pivotal roles, whom he has directed in the Singham and Simmba respectively. In Sooryavanshi, Akshay will be seen as the head of an anti-terrorism squad of Mumbai Police. While the film was to hit the screens in March, it has been postponed indefinitely due to the pandemic.
