Speed­ing car kills cop at US em­bassy

New Delhi: A 51-year-old Delhi Police as­sis­tant subin­spec­tor (ASI) on duty was mowed down by a speed­ing car out­side the US Em­bassy in the na­tional cap­i­tal on Fri­day morn­ing. The car also rammed into the bound­ary wall of the em­bassy af­ter crush­ing the ASI to death. Police said that they have ar­rested the ac­cused, iden­ti­fied as Sid­dharth Bha­gat (41), an as­sis­tant pro­fes­sor at Ra­jasthan Univer­sity, Jaipur. Ac­cord­ing to a se­nior police of­fi­cial, on Fri­day morn­ing at around 10 am a car be­ing driven by Bha­gat rammed into a wall near US em­bassy. “The ASI, Lal Man Singh Siso­dia, of Police Con­trol Room (PCR) unit, who was on duty near the gate of US em­bassy died in the ac­ci­dent,” said the se­nior police of­fi­cial.
