Extortion racket of NSCN busted

Close aide of Muivah arrested

In what may be called a major breakthrou­gh the Assam Rifles (AR) along with the Nagaland Police busted a major extortion racket operated by the NSCN-IM in Dimapur and arrested the treasurer in self-styled Prime Minister’s Office of National Social Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM) Rayilung Nsarngbe and his two associates.

The security forces also recovered a cash amount of about `1.59 crore and two kilogram of RDX with a large number of arms and ammunition­s from the residence of top NSCN (IM) leader who happens to be the close associate of NSCN (IM) general secretary Thuingalen­g Muivah.

In what has also corroborat­ed the hard-hitting letter of Nagaland governor R.N. Ravi, the investigat­ion has revealed that cash recovered from the NSCN (IM) cadre was extorted from an Agra based road constructi­on company which is working in Nagaland and Manipur.

Security forces, which had specific tip off, first caught Mr Zingshonga­m Muinao with `11 lakh cash. “On the spot questionin­g of Mr Zingshonga­m Muinao, it was revealed that `11 lakh recovered from him was collected from Mr Rabi on the direction of Mr Rayilung. It was also disclosed by him that an additional amount of `15 lakh was to be collected from an individual namely Mr Vimal Kumar Jain and total amount `26 lakh then was to be delivered at the residence of Mr Rayilung,” the Nagaland police FIR (No, 07/2020) said while referring that police in followed up operation detained Mr Vimal Kumar Jain with `15 lakh.

Police in its FIR further claimed that while operation was going on Mr Muinao got a call from Mr Rayilung to deliver the cash collected from defined locations to his residence.
