‘Only thing killed in Yogi’s Raj is justice’

New Delhi, July 10: Opposition parties on Friday raised questions about the police version of the encounter of Vikas Dubey and targeted the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh. The Congress demanded a judicial probe by a sitting Supreme Court judge into the entire episode involving the gangster to bring out the truth about those who had granted protection to him and the alleged political-criminal nexus in Uttar Pradesh. Dubey was alleged to have links with politicians.

“Congress demands that the unholy nexus between organised crime and the ilk of Vikas Dubey with those sitting in the echelons of power be probed by a sitting Supreme Court judge,” Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said it was not the car that had toppled but the encounter had saved the state government from toppling, had facts come to light.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also demanded a judicial probe by a sitting SC judge into the entire

Kanpur episode. “The truth about those who nurtured and protected criminals like Vikas Dubey should come out. Till the time this truth and the nexus between politicians and criminals does not come out, justice will not be done to those eight policemen who were killed by him,” Ms Gandhi said. Senior TMC leader and MP Mahua Moitra came down heavily on the Uttar Pradesh government, asserting that justice is the “only thing killed” in chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s “encounter raj”.
