Entrepreneurs of N-E to get ‘permanent market links’

- MANOJ ANAND

The North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFI) has embarked upon an ambitious plan to facilitate “marketplace” to entrepreneurs of MSME sectors facing challenges in the region due to pandemic situation or any other reasons in the northeast states.

Informing that facility that the NEDFI intends to create will be of help especially for those entrepreneurs who are located away from Guwahati, the deputy general manager of the NEDFI, Mr Ashim Kumar Das said that the product categories would include handloom and handicraft items, nonperishable food products as well as MSME products.

Pointing out that the facility would be on the pattern of the NEDFI Haat Showroom, he said that the selection of the products would be done on the basis of product quality, shelf life, space requirement, market demand, etc.

Apart from existing entrepreneurs, the selfhelp groups (SHGs) and co-operatives belonging to NER will be able to avail this facility. He said that the initiative would help in creation of new entrepreneurs too, especially to those women groups or individuals who are producing products at home and are looking for an opportunity to showcase them in a proper marketing platform.

The products will be displayed in a permanent mode and hence unlike an exhibition, the participants need not to spend on stall rent, travel and accommodation. In case an entrepreneur wants to participate in other events, they will have the liberty to take back the products.
