SC rejects plea against Gogoi
The Supreme Court on Friday rejected a plea seeking an “in-house” inquiry against former Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi for an alleged bias and improper conduct in passing an ex-parte order in July 2016.
Dismissing the plea as “infructuous” , Justice Arun Mishra heading a three judge bench told the petititioner–in-person that Justice Gogoi has since retired and “nothing can be done now, we can’t help you”.
As the PIL petitioner-inperson Arun Ramchandra Hublikar from Pune persisted with his plea, the court asked him what was he doing for last two years since he had filed the PIL.
Hublikar said that he wrote dozens of letters to the court registry and had met the secretary general personally for a date but nothing happened.
“Supreme Court has not taken my case, that is my grievance. No fault of mine, I am aq senior citizen at the age of 69”, Hublikar told the court.
“Nothing remains that can be considered. With the lapse of time that has happened. Whether your fault or God’s fault, your prayers have become infructuous” Justice Mishra said dismissing the PIL.
The registry, in its office report, stated that Hublikar, petitioner-inperson, had filed the petition on 24.05.2018 and he had made frivolous allegations against the retired CJI in three applications.
The case was listed before the Court on 10.12.2018, but Hublikar requested an adjournment expressing his inability to appear and accordingly the Court ordered listing of the matter in August 2019.
