Sushant death: CBI questions Rhea’s parents
The Central Bureau of Investigation ( CBI) on Tuesday began questioning of Rhea Chakraborty’s parents in connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide probe. The grilling took place in the absence of Rhea who has undergone exhaustive interrogation of at least 35 hours in the past four days.
Rhea and her parents are all named as accused in the case filed by the Bihar police, being probed by the CBI. Meanwhile, the Narcotics Control Bureau ( NCB) on Tuesday detained a supplier and seized drugs sourced from the USA and Canada.
The first round of CBI questioning of Indrajit and Sandhya Chakraborty along with their son Showik began with the kind of relationship their daughter shared with Rajput. The officials sought details on the monetary transaction and financial relationship between Chakrabortys and the late actor. The questioning continued till late evening at the DRDO guest house, Santacruz.
“CBI will question the parents again if needed and other accused named in the case as the investigation progresses. The facts recorded till now in the interrogation of those questioned will be verified with the versions given by all,” said an officer privy to the investigation.
The ED meanwhile continued questioning Arya for the second day in a row on Tuesday. The agency is probing the possible role of Arya in laundering money to the tune of ` 15 crore, belonging to
Rajput. The officials said that Arya’s name came up in the investigation after some text messages on narcotics substances, exchanged between him and Rhea, surfaced online. The NCB is probing the drugs angle and is likely to question Arya soon.
The NCB officials conducted multiple raids in Mumbai and Delhi and seized 3.5 kg curated marijuana having ` 5,000 per gram street value in Mumbai.
