Licences of all city nursing homes to be renewed till March

THE OWNERS of nursing homes pointed out that due to the Covid pandemic some of the nursing homes could not renew their licence after the month of March which is creating issues in the operations of these nursing homes.

In a significan­t developmen­t, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday directed the health department to immediatel­y pass an order by which the licences of all nursing homes will automatica­lly be renewed till March next year.

The nursing home owners of Delhi along with senior members of Delhi Medical Council ( DMC) and Delhi Medical Associatio­n ( DMA) on Wednesday met Mr Kejriwal and flagged the renewal of licences as a very significan­t issue.

In that meeting, the owners of the nursing homes flagged the issue that every year there is a need to renew the licence to run these nursing homes. The owners of nursing homes pointed out that due to the Covid pandemic some of the nursing homes could not renew their licence after the month of March which is creating issues in the operations of these nursing homes.

In this meeting, health minister Satyendar Jain was also present and after listening to the concerns of nursing homes owners, Mr Kejriwal took the decision.

CHIEF MINISTER Arvind Kejriwal directed the health department to immediatel­y pass an order by which the licences of all nursing homes will automatica­lly be renewed till March next year.

President of Delhi Medical Council, Dr Arun Gupta said: “This will provide immediate relief to the nursing home owners.” Ex- president of Delhi Medical Associatio­n, Dr. R. K. Gupta said: “The Delhi government has taken commendabl­e measures during the time of corona and has honoured the private and government hospitals and health care workers. The meeting with the nursing home owners was successful. We are very happy with the decision of the chief minister.”
