Diljit’s pregnant pause
Media has been abuzz with the news that Diljit Dosanjh has exited from Shaad Ali’s next project — an untitled quirky rom- com in which the hero of the film gets pregnant. This would be the Diljit’s second installment with the director. However, Shaad refuted the rumours. “Not at all,” Shaad stated, asking instead, “Has he told you this directly?”
So what is the delay then, we wonder. “We’re involved in too many technical issues at the moment,” replied Shaad, adding, “Till Diljit comes to India we can’t say anything. It’s a technical issue for him to come to India from the US at the moment as the international airspace is not open. I’ll confirm once we have clarity on this.” As regards the title of the film, Shaad tells us that they’re still looking for one. “Any suggestions?” he quips with a smile, adding, “There is no working title. It’s just ‘ Production No. 1’.”
While the team is still figuring out if they might start shooting in a couple of months or even the next year, they’ve not yet signed the female lead either. Shaad Ali had started his career as an assistant to Mani Ratnam for Dil Se. After debuting with YRF with his 2002 film Saathiya, he made the 2005 hit Bunty Aur Babli and the 2018 biographical sports drama based on the life of Sandeep Singh, titled Soorma. When asked if he regrets not directing Bunty Aur Babli 2
( which is being directed by Varun V Sharma), he laughs,
“Haaa! Not at all! My assistant is directing it, so I am very happy in fact.”
