‘ Metro won’t stop at stations where travel rules violated’

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

The Delhi Metro is all set to resume operations from Monday in a graded manner. The Metro travel experience is set to change with thermal scanning and social distancing rules across stations as well as inside trains. The urban development ministry has announced that if violations of guidelines are found at any station, trains will not stop at that station.

The Metro services have been closed since March 22 due to the coronavirus crisis. “The Delhi Metro services will resume in a graded manner in three stages from September 7- 12 with the Yellow Line or Line 2 connecting Samaypur Badli in Delhi to HUDA City Centre in Gurgaon and Rapid Metro to be the first ones to be made operational on September 7,” the DMRC said in a statement.

Trains will not stop at stations falling in containment zones and such stations will remain closed. Similarly, some stations may be skipped if social distancing is not followed by passengers, the DMRC said. DMRC’s statement comes after the Union home ministry announced the Unlock 4.0 phase and allowed resumption of Metro train services in a graded manner across the country from September 7.

The Centre, however, has barred Maharashtra government from starting the Metro services.

In compliance with the home ministry’s guidelines, the DMRC has decided that trains will operate in batches of four hour each from 7.00- 11.00 am in the morning and 4.00- 8.00 pm in the evening.
