‘ Security forces checked China, Pak at LAC, LoC’

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

Security forces have not just successfully managed to check Chinese movement along the LAC in the Ladakh sector but have had huge success in containing infiltration along the Indo- Pak border as a detailed analysis of the data reveals. Security forces managed to keep infiltration low even during the summer months which is the peak time for infiltration by subversive elements.

Starting March this year, only three infiltrations were made which went up in April where 23 infiltration attempts were made while 18 of them were successful. However, following this immediate corrective and stringent measures during May only eight infiltration attempts were made while only four went through but surprisingly during the month of June no attempt was made in wake on increased security deployment along the Indo- Pak border. Even during the month though terrorists from across PoK made 10 infiltration attempts they were all thwarted successfully.

“It is largely due to the fact that security forces could successfully stop any major infiltration during the peak summer season that a direct impact is being witnessed on the security situation in the Kashmir Valley. Since we could stop the militant from coming in this summer due to which the number of terror incidents in the Valley have also witnessed a drop,” a señior security official said.

Officials claimed that this summer season a multi- pronged and a more stringent strategy adopted which started with increasing deployment of personnel and a much effective domination of the borders by border patrolling teams. Further the number of observation posts along the IndoPak borders was also increased.

The security forces also deployed a number of high effective hi- tech surveillance equipment along the Loc backed by strengthening of local human intelligence network in the border areas. More areas near the border were also covered with border fencing and floodlighting and deployment of technolgical solutions in non- feasible areas like mountain and riverine gaps.
