MP fine- tunes law, may form tribunal to try stone- pelters
Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government is mulling to constitute tribunals to try cases of stone- throwing attacks in the state. The state law department has prepared the draft bill seeking to deal with people involved in stone- throwing attacks strongly and it is going to be placed before the state Cabinet for approval, sources said on Friday. The draft bill proposes to set up tribunals in the state to try cases of stone- pelting attacks, a senior officer of state law department told this newspaper unwilling to be quoted.

The draft Bill has provided that the proposed tribunals have to dispose of the cases within 6 months, he added.
The draft bill would be referred to the chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for his scrutiny before being placed in the state cabinet for approval, sources said.
Sources said the draft Bill has proposed to confiscate the properties of the attackers to compensate the losses caused by them.
Even the places of worship which would be found to be harboring the stone throwers would be confiscated as per the draft Bill, sources added.
The chief minister had earlier indicated that the accused involved in the stone- throwing attacks may be handed over a life term in jail under the proposed law.
