Videos of a scuffle of late Delhi police inspector Mohan Chand Sharma’s son, Divyanshu, with a mobile phone accessories’ shopkeeper in Dwarka area have gone viral on social media. Mohan Chand Sharma was martyred in Batla House encounter in Delhi on September 19, 2008.

The incident took place on Saturday at around 3.30 pm. According to the police, Divyanshu alleged that he, along with his cousin, came to install temper glass on his mobile phone, but the work got delayed. Thereafter, some argument took place and the shopkeeper misbehaved with him.

However, it was observed in the footages that both shopkeeper Sanchit and Divyanshu misbehaved with each other, a senior police officer said.

“After a while, Divyanshu again came to the spot with two personal security officers (PSOs). Divyanshu had a stick and the PSOs had weapons with them. Divyanshu again had verbal altercation with the shopkeeper and the PSOs also got involved. Divyanshu also tried to slap the shopkeeper,” DCP (Dwarka) Santosh Kumar Meena said.

Suddenly, some unknown persons or shopkeepers started threatening Divyanshu and thrashed him. They ran away towards Karor society, around 300 meters from the spot, followed by a mob.

Divyanshu alleged that during the scuffle, his mobile phone and gold chain were either snatched or got lost. The crowd also manhandled his two PSOs.

Accordingly, medical examination of both the victims (Divyanshu and his cousin) was conducted at the DDU Hospital and the injuries were found to be minor, the police said.
