Boney Kapoor to play Ranbir’s father
The filmmaker was flooded with offers after his recent cameo appearance. Apparently, he’s accepted one too
If you’ve seen producer Boney Kapoor’s quaint cameo in the mockumentary AK Vs AK and loved it, rest assured there’s more of him you can see on screen.
Luv Ranjan, who is directing a film with Ranbir, Shraddha Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia in it, is said to have made an offer to the veteran producer of over thirty films — an offer, we are told, he just couldn’t refuse.
According to one of our sources, “Boney ji seemed a little surprised at the offer, but he took it. He is expected to make his full-fledged acting debut at the soonest. The cast and crew of the film are already in Delhi for the shoot.”
Interestingly, Boney’s brother and actor Anil Kapoor has also played Ranbir’s father in one of his upcoming films, Animal. Incidentally, Sanjay Kapoor, the third of this clan of Kapoor brothers, had played father to Sonam Kapoor in the 2019-film The Zoya Factor as well as Arjun Kapoor’s biological father in the 2017-rom-com, Mubarakan. Whether the producer of films such as Mr India, Judaai, Company and No Entry, who also has four films — Maidaan, Valimai, Vakeel Saab and Bombay Girl — to be shot or released in the near future is just doing the film for a lark or if he’s excited about the stint as an actor, remains to be seen.
