Airline official’s murder in Patna raises political heat

Nitish Kumar led NDA government facing attack over rising crime graph in Bihar was in for another setback when a private airline official Rupesh Kumar Singh was gunned down in Patna Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred outside his residentia­l complex in Patna’s crowded Punaichak area under Shastri Nagar police station.

According to the police, he had returned from the airport after duty and was entering into his residentia­l building when criminals started firing indiscrimi­nately and pumped at least six bullets from the window of the car. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment where doctors declared him brought dead.

While investigat­ing the case police found that CCTV of the building was not working and the security guard was not

present when occurred.

According to police officials, “A special investigat­ion team has been formed to probe the case. We are also trying to find a motive behind the killing”.

However, according to reports, the police on Wednesday found some vital clues in the murder of Rupesh Kumar Singh. Sources said that CCTV from the nearby building suggests that there were two motorcycle-borne assailants and they appeared to be following him from the airport.

MP Vivek Thakur raised questions on the law and order scenario of the state said that “the police should either reach some conclusion or hand over the case to the CBI without delay”.

BJP is a part of Nitish Kumar government in Bihar. The harsh statement issued by the ruling alliance leader has aroused political temperatur­e in the state.

On the other hand RJD leader, Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday demanded Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s resignatio­n over his failure in controllin­g rising crime graph in the state.

“Criminals protected by those in power in Bihar killed airport manager Rupesh Kumar Singh in Patna outside his residence. He was affable and friendly. I am deeply saddened by his untimely death. It seems that now criminals are running the government in Bihar”, Tejashwi said in a tweet.
