Ego-tussle among actresses

During Easwaran’s promotion event, there seemed to be a cold war between both the leading ladies Nidhi Agarwal and Nandita Swetha

A few days ago in Chennai, Telugu actresses Nidhi Agarwal from the 2019-action flick iSmart Shankar reportedly threw tantrums at a promotional event of her upcoming Tamil–Telugu flick Easwaran. The film, which features Simbu in the lead role, also has another Telugu actress, Nandita Swetha (seen in 2016-Telugu film

Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinndavada) playing the second lead in the movie.

According to a source from the production house, at the promotional event, Nidhi wanted to sit next to Simbu and didn’t want Nandita around. Ironically, however, Nandita seemed unaware of the whole ruckus caused apparently by her presence. “Honestly, I didn’t know what happened,” she tells us. “I sat where I was asked to though the seating arrangements kept changing in the front row as guests poured in. But it is surprising to know that such a thing happened behind my back.”

We, however, point out to the actress that she did go and sit beside Simbu after completing her speech. “It is true that I went and sat beside Simbu, but that was because I am not very good at speaking in Tamil. So I wanted to check with him whether I’d spoken well about him, and he was awesome,” she clarifies, adding that she was not aware that Nidhi was holding herself back on stage after finishing her speech and was reportedly asking the production team to keep the specific seat vacant for her. “I didn’t know about it. However, I am thankful to the production team for handling the situation in a matured manner as

I was also one of the female leads in the movie.”

AVOIDING THE EGO TUSSLE

What seems to baffle Nandita about the whole affair is that according to her she and Nidhi had actually shared a nice rapport while working in the film for almost a month, in which they play sisters. But she doesn’t seem too ruffled. “There’s enough space for every actor in the industry and no one can take another’s place, so my confidence is undeterred,” she states matter-of-factly.

But what about the claims about her not doing shared interviews with Nidhi on various channels, we ask her. “I did all the interviews arranged by the PR team, including sharedinterviews with all, except Nidhi. Then, I had to return to Bangalore as my father was not feeling well. In fact, I remember that during the shoots when I’d begin thinking about my ailing dad, actors Bharatiraja and Simbu would cheer me up, trying to pep up my morale. I’d felt the unit was like a family,” she adds.

In conclusion, Nandita points out how she has done other two-heroine movies in her career and hasn’t faced any issues with any of her coactresses. “I’ve worked with Hebbah Patel, Swetha and a few others, and I have a good rapport with them even now,” she points out. “We are young actresses who know what we’re doing on screen, so there are no issues of ego or professional rivalry. We are here to make our own mark, without feeling envy and hatred.”
