Sex matters
Dr D Narayana Reddy shares his perspectives as he responds to readers’ relationship queries
Q) I am a 28-year-old married man in a successful marriage. Besides that, I enjoy masturbating daily. But now-adays, I feel like I am losing my stamina during sex. Could it be because of my masturbation habit?
A) I assume you have problems with your erection. The causes for erection problems range from physical and psychological to sociocultural factors. Whatever the reason may be, rest assured your masturbation is not the cause. But why is it that you masturbate daily if you are successfully enjoying sexual life with your wife?
Q) I am a married woman. For the last six years, I have been using pills for contraception as my husband does not like to use a condom while having sex. My problem is that nowadays I feel that I am losing my sex drive. Is it due to the continuous use of contraception pills?
DR D. NARAYANA REDDY
A)Yes. The possibility of the oral contraceptive pill causing a reduced drive must be considered. However, please find out whether other operative causes also coexist. Factors such as sexual boredom/monotony, poor interpersonal relationship, general ill health and family situations can also be some of the other contributing factors.
