Professional Aakanksha shoots with a fracture

The Malli Raava star shares her excitement of shooting with Amitabh Bachchan

- LIPIKA VARMA

The Ajay Devgan and Amitabh-Bachchan starrer film, in which the actress plays a pivotal role, began shooting its second schedule in the first week of January 2021. Aakanksha, who plays the role of the wife to Ajay Devgan’s role in the film, had some scenes to shoot during this schedule. Towards the end of the schedule, however, Aakanksha fractured her ankle while heading towards her car after the shoot’s pack up. Quite a bitter start to a new year, one would say. But Aakanksha appears to be focusing on the sweet blessings the year has brought her way. For starters, her next shoot schedule, which is set to begin in Mumbai’s Film City in the last week of January 2021, is with none other than legendary Amitabh Bachchan.

Currently with her ankle in a plaster, Aakanksha is resting it out before her next Mumbai schedule of the film. And the actress is set to resume shooting with her fractured leg, something that speaks for her sense of professionalism.

Excerpts from our interview

Q ON HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT GOING THE SETS TO WORK WITH AMITABH BACHCHAN?

I have never ever met Amitabh sir; this is my first opportunity to work with him, and I am superduper excited. I do not fear sharing screen space with him nor am I nervous. In fact, I am looking forward to it. Amitabh sir is a legend, an acting God, who everyone looks up to.

But my mind is blank. I remember always telling my family that one day I will surely work with Amitabh sir. And now it’s happening. I believe, if you think positively, you might never know how it manifests but it will. So yes, I am happy my wish is being fulfilled.

Q. YOU HURT YOUR ANKLE AT THE SHOOT. HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?

“I have never ever met Amitabh sir; this is my first opportunity to work with him. I am super-duper excited. I am not nervous. In fact, I am looking forward to it. Amitabh sir is a legend, an acting God, who everyone looks up to.”

I was shooting for my second schedule in Hyderabad. I hurt myself on the 6th January after pack up, when I was boarding my car. My left ankle twisted and now it is in plaster, and needs to stay on in the plaster for four weeks. But I still had one more day of shoot in Hyderabad on the 7th January, so I shot for it with my plaster on. Ajay sir was very supportive. He ensured I felt comfortable.

Q WE HEAR YOU GOT TWO DIAGNOSES DONE, INCLUDING ONE BY A DOCTOR IN JAIPUR, YOUR HOMETOWN.

Earlier, Hyderabad doctors had diagnosed it as ligament injury and plastered it for one week. I took a second opinion from the doctor here in Jaipur, and he diagnosed it as a mid-foot injury. According to him, this fracture is a rather rare kind so he thought it better to treat it now, as at a later stage it could get troublesome.

Q. WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE PROJECTS?

I am doing a series of some very good projects, of which I cannot reveal now. I have also been shooting with the makers of Baahubali, Arka Media Works. I had to begin shooting with them on the 8th of January 2021, but because of my fracture the shoot got cancelled.
