West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday mocked the BJP’s much-hyped Rath Yatra in the poll-bound state as “outsiders’ tour in a vehicle, housing a hotel, for five-star babus” hours before saffron party president J.P. Nadda flagged off two more Rath Yatras, slammed the Trinamul Congress supremo’s rule and called her MP nephew Abhishek Banerjee a bigrail beta (spoilt child).
At a TMC rally in Kalna of Burdwan East, Ms Banerjee alleged, “Some outsiders and goonda, who do not live here, think that they will spread lies to the poor and click photos of having lunch at their home in exchange of money. They tour in a vehicle which houses a hotel for five-star babus. They also have their lunch, which is
cooked at a five-star hotel, on a gold plate.”
She later claimed at Maati Utsob in the same district, “The BJP has turned the
country into a crematorium. But we will not let that happen in Bengal.” At her next rally in Berhampore in Murshidabad, Ms Ban-erjee
accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of lying on the payment of salary to the state government employees during his last state visit.
Seeking him to prove his allegations she vowed to “live like a Royal Bengal tiger.”
Lashing out at Ms Banerjee, Mr Nadda said, “Two days ago what did you say in the name of Shubhendu Adhikari’s respected father? I can not even utter it here. Bhaipo has stigmatized Bengal through his culture. He is upto Tustikaran, Tanashahi and Tolabaji only. Remember, in May people will remove you from power. Did I do anything wrong in visiting Diamond Harbour and Bhowanipore? Are these places someone’s property? Bhaipo, I will visit Diamond Harbour not once but many times and I will show you how people stand up. Sarkar Aate Hain, Jate Hain. Par Zaban toh Sambhal Ke Rakho! Par Bigre Beto Ka Toh Haal Aisa Hi Hota Hai. Yeh Bigrail Bete Hain. He has got power without responsibility. That is why he does not respect power.”
