Fitness that suits your zodiac

-

M—Carl Gustav Jung edical astrology, sometimes referred to as iatromathematics, isn’t likely to get the Indian Medical Association (IMA) seal of approval. But we can still figure out that our body’s regions are associated with our astrological signs.

Libra

24 September to 23 October

Librans, whose sign is ruled by the kidneys and bladder, are plagued by digestive problems and suffer from either diarrhoea or constipation. Librans, it is best to take it easy on rich or spicy foods that may not be so gentle on your stomach. Drink lots of water to keep your kidneys performing at their peak. Steamed veggies, ginger, garlic and yoghurt are also especially important. Librans should focus on organised and gentle fitness options such as low-impact cardio and stretching. They could try side-bends, jogging with alternate knee-lifts, wind-surfing, bowling, hang-gliding, badminton or gymnastics.

Scorpio

24 October to 22 November

Scorpio, one of the water signs of the zodiac, rules the reproductive organs. Scorpios need to remain hydrated at all times as they are prone to dehydration. They’re intense and require strenuous and serious fitness activities such as boxing and martial arts; however, their workout should be followed by yoga or stretches as they are prone to weak ligaments and stress-induced injuries. They could try swimming, shoulder rolls, underwater swimming, scuba diving, boxing or rally driving. Sagittarius

23 November to 21 December

A fire sign that rule the thighs, Sagittarians are of restless spirit, which sometimes makes them accident-prone. They are also vulnerable to conditions that affect the eyes and should add whole grains, green vegetables, carrots, melons, papaya, guava and oranges to their diet. Sagittarians should concentrate on upper thighs in their fitness regime and ensure they do lots of legwork. Try archery, marathon running, horseback riding, fencing, polo or weight-training.

My dear readers, if you believe in astrology or consider zodiac signs to be indicative of who you are, then an exploration such as this, about the relationship between astrology and health, might offer insights on how you could enhance your well-being.

“We are born at a given moment, in a given place and, like vintage years of wine, we have the qualities of the year and of the season of which we are born. Astrology does not lay claim to anything more.”
