FIR on Cong MLA kicks off storm

■ Kamal Nath threatens to make public honeytrap videos

A huge political row erupted here, on Friday, with Congress veteran and former chief minister Kamal Nath issuing a veiled threat to make the honey trap videos, involving some high profile people of Madhya Pradesh, public if the FIR filed against party MLA Umang Singhar in connection with the suicide of his girlfriend was not withdrawn.

Ruling BJP here took strong exception to Mr Nath’s statement describing it an attempt to blackmail the state government to “submit to his dictates.” The party also dared him to expose the honey trap videos that “are in his possession.”

“Mr Nath’s statement suggests that he was running his 15-month-old government that fell in March, 2020, by resorting to blackmaili­ng tactics since he has claimed that the honey trap videos are in his possession,” state higher education minister Vishwas Sarang said.

needed to clear the doubts as to if the original honey trap videos were submitted to the court by his government then since he has now claimed to have in his possession the original videos.

Curiously, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has maintained silence on the issue.

Nearly 4,000 sleazy videos and audios, sex chats, and photograph­s showing some high profile people including babus and politician­s in compromisi­ng positions were recovered from laptops, pen drives, and other electronic gadgets seized from the accused involved in the honey trapping and blackmaili­ng racket during raids in their houses here in 2019.
