HC declines to entertain plea to restrain ‘media trial’ of Sushil
Two more associate of international wrestlerturned-murderer Sushil Kumar was arrested by Delhi Police in connection with the Sagar Dhankar murder case. This is the ninth arrest so far in the case. The 23 year-old Rohit Karor has been wrestling with Sushil for the past 14 years and was also present at Chhatrasal stadium on the day of the incident.
Meanwhile, the Crime Branch team also took Sushil and his aide Ajay to Punjab’s Bathinda in connection with the ongoing investigation.
The Delhi High Court also on Friday declined to entertain a plea to restrain the media from ‘sensationalising’ the trial of wrestler and Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar in connection with the death of a 23year old wrestler, and seeking rules for reporting criminal cases, saying a PIL cannot be filed for an individual who is a “vigilant person”.
According to a senior police official, Rohit and another accused Binder were nabbed on Thursday night from Delhi’s Tikri border after specific inputs were received regarding them by the police team of Crime Branch.
“Initially they have told police that they both present at Chhatrasal stadium with Sushil at the time of incident. Further they are being interrogated,” he said.
Earlier, a video surfaced on social media on Thursday purportedly showing two-time Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar and his associates allegedly hitting another man with sticks. In the video, Kumar and his associates are purportedly seen carrying sticks in their hands while the man can be seen lying on the ground in an injured condition. A man can be seen carrying a pistol in the video.
