Man held for threat to PM in Delhi PCR call

New Delhi: A 22-year-old man was arrested from Delhi’s Khajuri Khas area on Friday after he called the PCR and allegedly threatened to kill PM Narendra Modi. The accused, who has been identified as Salman, told police that he made the call as he “wanted” to go to jail.

The Delhi Police has arrested a 22-year-old man from northeast Delhi for allegedly calling the Police Control Room and threatenin­g to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi, officials said on Friday.

The accused identified as Salman alias Arman, is a drug addict and had been to a juvenile correction home in 2018 in a case of murder, they said.

On late Thursday night after he made a call to the Police Control Room on 112 and allegedly threatened to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi, police said.

The contact number of the alleged caller was immediatel­y tracked and shared with the district unit which then located him from Khajuri Khas area in northeast Delhi, a senior police officer said.

Preliminar­y investigat­ion so far suggested that the man was under the influence of drugs and made the PCR call post midnight after being scolded by his father around 10 am.

A senior police officer said that when interrogat­ed, the man said he wanted to go to jail and so made a PCR call for the same. When asked why he wanted to be in jail, the accused claimed “Wahi mann lagta hai mera”.

The officer said the man also revealed that he had taken smack around 7 pm on Thursday and is addicted to drugs.

The senior officers of the Delhi Police will further jointly interrogat­ed the man along with IB officials as per protocol before taking any further legal action.

The man had been to Juvenile Correction Home in 2018 in a case of murder when he was underage, police said.
