Akshay in Rakshasudu remake
Director Ramesh Varma will helm the film in his Hindi debut
It’s a great honour and opportunity to direct Akshay Kumar was a big hit, so I am looking forward to recreating the same magic with Akshayji. I know the expectations would be high; we shall start working on the script soon
— RAMESH VARMA, director
The 2019-Telugu film Rakshasudu, which is the remake of the 2018-Tamil film Ratsasan, has set off a remake chain of sorts. Ever since its success in 2019, several Bollywood actors have come forward to star in the Hindi remake of the film.
As the dust settles, turns out Akshay Kumar will star in the Hindi remake. In fact, Akshay was supposed to star in the psychological thriller last year, but due to his prior commitments and having contracted COVID19, he had to push the film by one year.
Ramesh Varma, who directed Rakshasudu, will also direct the Hindi version, making it his Bollywood debut.
Expressing his excitement, Ramesh says, “It’s a great honour and opportunity to direct Akshay Kumarji. Rakshasudu was a big hit, so I am looking forward to recreating the same magic with Akshayji. I know the expectations would be high; we shall start working on the script.”
According to sources, Akshay had given his word to producer Koneru Satyanarayana that he’d collaborate with the latter for the Hindi remake. However, Akshay requested Satyanarayana to give the Hindi remake rights to producer
Vashu Bhagnani, a request Satyanarayana obliged to.
