‘After I get home and...return back to normal from a world of disbelief and shock, I have many stories to share with you’ : Aryana Sayeed

Afghanistan’s biggest female pop star Aryana Sayeed has escaped from the country which has now been taken over by the Taliban.

Confirming that she had been able to leave Kabul, Aryana announced on Instagram, “I am well and alive and after a couple of unforgettable nights, I have reached Doha, Qatar and am awaiting my eventual flight back home to Istanbul.”

Aryana lives in Turkey with her husband Hasib Sayed, an Afghan music producer. “After I get home and my mind and emotions return back to normal from a world of disbelief and shock, I have many stories to share with you,” she said in her emotional social media message, as reported by New York Post.

The 36-year-old singer who was a judge on a recent singing competition on Afghan television, left via a US cargo jet.

According to the New York Post, Aryana is among the lucky few who have managed to leave Kabul.

Salima Mazari, governor of

Hazara district, was less fortunate — she was reportedly arrested on Wednesday and is feared to have been executed. Mazari had openly criticised the terrorists, New York Post reported. Many expats from around the world are also struggling to find their way out of the country.

In 2015 Aryana had sung at a stadium, breaking three taboos — entering the stadium despite being a woman, singing despite being a woman, and not wearing a hijab — all of which are forbidden under the Taliban. “Now, all of those have turned into a dream,” tweeted a human rights activist.
