CBI files 11 FIRs in WB post-poll clashes, 10 in dists, 1 Kolkata

The CBI on Friday said that it has so far filed 11 separate cases into various incidents of post-poll violence in West Bengal after taking over the investigat­ion of these cases from the state police.

Except one case in Kolkata, all others are related to districts.

The FIR at Kotulpur police station in Bankura against three TMC workers claimed that the accused abducted a BJP worker on May 6, killed him on May 8 and left the body near a pond.

In the FIR at Indus police station in Bankura against 30 persons, it is alleged that the accused attacked the house of victims with lathis, iron rods, knives, pistol and bombs and sexually harassed the female members. They also kidnapped a person who was later killed and was found hanging from a tree.

The FIR at Chapra police station stated that eight TMC workers beat three persons with a chopper.

Except one case in Kolkata, all others are related to districts. The first case at Gangnapur police station on May 3 against 12 TMC workers alleged that they had attacked the victim with bamboo sticks and choppers.

The FIR at Kotulpur police station in Bankura on May 4 against three TMC workers claimed that the accused abducted a BJP worker on May 6, killed him on May 8 and left the body near a pond.

The Chapra police station FIR in Nadia on May 14 stated that eight TMC workers beat three persons with a chopper.

FIR at the Indus police station in Bankura on May 10 against 30 persons, the accused attacked the house of victims with lathis, iron rod, knives, katari, kodal, kurul, bhojali, pistol and bombs and sexually harassed the female members.

They also forcefully kidnapped a person into their pick-up van where they killed him and later hanged him on a tree.

The FIR at Nabagram police station in Murshidaba­d on May 10 accused three persons of gangrape while the sixth one at Narkeldang­a police station in Kolkata on May 2 said at least seven men attacked the victim with sticks and also broke the household articles of his house;

The FIR at Bhatpara police station in North 24 Parganas May 6 blamed three persons of visiting the house of a BJP worker and abusing him and his family members. One of the accused allegedly hurled a bomb on the forehead of the man leaving him dead.

The one at Tufanganj police station in Cooch Behar on May 5 against 16 persons alleged that they attacked two persons and both sustained severe injuries. One of the two was found dead later.

The case at Kotwali police station in Nadia dated on May 14 against 10 accused complained that they assembled and broke into a woman’s house with weapons.
