The Bachchans get the KBC audience in splits with their comic interludes during the show

Well-known as it is that Amitabh Bachchan is closest to his daughter Shweta, it wasn’t surprising that he’d invited her as the special guest on his show KBC Season 13 for its 1000th episode. Shweta showed up with her daughter Navya Naveli Nanda, yet another favourite of Big B. Big B has indulged in fun criticism of his wife’s behaviour with him and how scared he’s of her. The 1000th episode actually saw his daughter and granddaughter indulge in humorous repartee.

What’s more, Jaya Bachchan joined the conversation via a video call.

The repartee started with Navya telling her grandpa about how good he looks in a suit given he’s only seen wearing a gown at home. Shweta immediately joins in, adding how her mother is not too appreciative of Bachchan’s choice of colours for his suits on KBC. “Unko koi colours aap pe ache nahi lagte [She doesn’t like any of these colours on you]. Toh woh directly bol deti hain ki ‘Arrey, aaj itne acche nahi lag rahe’ [So she says it directly, ‘Today’s he’s not looking that good’].”

Immediately, Bachchan goes on to ask his wife, “Jaya, yeh kya bol rahi hai, Navya, ki bahut se colours jo aap kehti hai ki mujh pe acche nahi lagte [Jaya, what is Navya here saying that you don’t seem to like a lot of colours on me]?”

Undeterred, Jaya quickly agrees that she indeed doesn’t like some colours. “I’ve told it to you myself. You wear maroon and brown. And then you have a weird violet coloured suit that you wear!” Big B very comically, pretends to get angry. “Hum jo violet pehente hai woh accha nahi lagta hai [The violet suit that I wear doesn’t look good]?” And when the wife replies in the negative, he continues comically, “Jao hum baat nahi karte [Go away! I won’t speak with you]!”

Not the one to give up, Jaya, seemingly happy at the prospect of her husband not talking to her, says, “Acchhi baat hai [That’s wonderful].”

And that sends the audience into raptures of laughter.
