Simran Choudhary seems to be making steady progress in Tollywood. After being part of films like Ee Nagaraniki Emaindhi, Check and Bombhaat, her next film is Sehari. Directed by Gnanasagar Dwaraka, the romantic comedy stars Harsh Kanumilli. Talking about her role in the film, Simran says she plays a fashion designer. “It’s a coming-of-age film, which showcases the journey of the lead characters — how the couple helps each other in fighting adversity,” says the actress. She attended workshops and reading sessions to get the hang of her part. “Although I play a fashion designer, my character focuses more on relationships,” she says. Interestingly, she herself has done a course in fashion designing. Simran says she was able to assist the director in a few aspects of costumes, and adds that, to her, fashion means expressing oneself. “Personally, I like to keep it simple and comfortable because, if you are comfortable you are confident,” she shares.

The actress’ mother is a fashion designer too. “I learnt a lot from my mother about the nuances of fashion,” she says.

Simran is a Rajasthani but was born and raised in Hyderabad. As such, she says, she never felt like an outsider in the industry. “I am grateful for the opportunities that I have been getting, and I am looking forward to more films. It’s been a dream run so far,” says Simran, who is also a classical dancer.

ALTHOUGH I PLAY A FASHION DESIGNER IN SEHERI, MY CHARACTER FOCUSES MORE ON RELATIONSHIPS. TO ME, FASHION MEANS EXPRESSING ONESELF. PERSONALLY, I LIKE TO KEEP IT SIMPLE AND COMFORTABLE BECAUSE, IF YOU ARE COMFORTABLE YOU ARE CONFIDENT. MY MOTHER IS A FASHION DESIGNER, AND I LEARNT A LOT FROM HER ABOUT THE NUANCES OF FASHION — SIMRAN CHOUDHARY
