Paperwork issues put brakes on her dreams

Alisha Abdullah sends legal notice to Bangalore dealers

-

It’s not every day that a champion racer like Alisha Abdullah misses a race for offtrack reasons. India’s first female national champion in motorsports and the first woman to win the President’s Award in motorsports is having a bad time for no apparent fault of hers.

The decorated racer has accused a Bangalorebased high-end vehicle dealers of failing to register her new high-end bike.

According to Alisha, she purchased the bike from the company in Bangalore three months ago, and they had communicated to her in an email that they would “assist with the registration process” at Tamil Nadu. However, she claims the company has failed to do so till date.

“I have no idea why they are not registering my bike. I have all the proofs of the conversations. Due to this ongoing issue, I was not able to participate in the drag racing championship in Mumbai recently.” says Alisha.

The racer has sent the company a legal notice through her advocate asking them to take back the bike and refund the entire sale price along with a sum of money as damages.

“It is pertinent to point out that by delivering the vehicle to the purchaser before registration, the company has violated Rule 42 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. The Trade Certificate is liable to be suspended or cancelled under Rule 44 of the said rules,” the legal notice says. Fearing that the whole episode may result in a bad image for her as she will now have to pay a penalty to the Transport Department for the delay in registering the vehicle, Alisha says “I am really angry and upset.”

THEY ARE NOT REGISTERING MY BIKE. DUE TO THIS ONGOING ISSUE, I WAS NOT ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DRAG RACING CHAMPIONSHIP IN MUMBAI RECENTLY.
