CONFIDENCE MAKES YOU A WINNER

Have previous or present failures got you down to the extent that you believe you cannot turn around your life? Well, there are ways to walk out of that swamp

ENSURE YOU HAVE YOUR YOGA, WORKOUTS OR WALKS AND RUNS PLANNED AND DONE. INDULGE IN GOOD FOOD THAT HELPS YOUR BODY REMAIN STRONG AND IMMUNE AGAINST DISEASES. TRY TO AVOID STRESS, WHICH COULD ADVERSELY AFFECT YOUR BODILY FUNCTIONS INCLUDING SLEEP, THUS MAKING YOU EVEN PRONE TO INFECTIONS.

Life is a sum total of every moment you spend living it. And rest assured that none of the moments might seem anything close to another. But no matter what, one thing you must have faith is in yourself. And to get there, you need to build confidence so you believe you can take on anything in life.

Of course, that’s not easy, especially if you come from a background of constant bickering, abuse, mockery, etc. But thankfully, self-confidence is a trait that can be developed. Here are some tips and ideas on how to build your confidence.

WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH…

Start focusing on all that’s going right, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant. Better still, write them down. Scooped up the little pup from the middle of the road to the pavement? Smiled back at an eager child waiting to impress? Scored a good GPA on your school boards? Completed that 100-metre dash at a better timing than the last time? Cooked a great meal? Just get them right down on paper.

No, we aren’t preaching toxic positivism here. The fun part about focusing on what’s going right is that it stops your mind from dwelling on whatever is not. A little, we might add, like the breathing technique to help calm you.

Memories of anything and all that you managed to have going right in your life and seeing them displayed in words might help raise your selfconfidence and increase your sense of trust in yourself.

TUNE INTO YOUR SELF-WORTH…

Because that’s what builds confidence. And focusing on all that’s going right with you often helps in reminding you that you are good enough as you are and will be supported, be it by friends, family or a higher power, if any. That sense of being good enough is only going to bolster your self-worth and hence

your confidence.

PRACTICE AND PATIENCE MAKE PERFECT…

And helps you do it better than anyone else. And that, you’d agree, is like a sure shot of happy hormones racing through you — to know that you can accomplish something better than anyone else.

But we also mean ‘practice’ by way of rehearsing the focusing on what’s going right in your life when the going gets tough… and about all that’s fine when something goes south.

Amidst the practise, however, remember it takes time to perfect anything. So be kind to yourself and remain patient until you master it.

AVOID NEGATIVITY…

Because that usually drains out all the self-worth, no matter how great your practice is. Imagine being around people who only see the negative in a situation, no matter how you try to make them see that the situation can improve? It won’t be surprising if you soon began seeing negatives in the condition too!

Positive vibes, be it through music, reading, meditation, being out in nature or being surrounded by positive people, helps you feel good - about yourself, the task you're about to undertake, possibilities in life, etc.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY AND MIND

Ensure you have your yoga, workouts or walks and runs planned and done. Indulge in good food that helps your body remain strong and immune against diseases. Try to avoid stress, which could adversely affect your bodily functions including sleep, thus making you even prone to infections.

While you work out for your body, engage your mind in activities that bring it joy. Indulge in the arts you enjoy by either performing it or being a participant in viewing it. While you remain open to information, learning and feedback, learn to identify and avoid naysayers who proclaim in advance that your efforts could be unworthy.
