Didi: BJP, Modi govt impure, will not return in ’24

- RAJIB CHOWDHURI KOLKATA, MAY 31

Calling BJP rule at the Centre “adulterated” West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of wrecking the country's economy through wrong policies and misuse of central agencies on the opposition leaders in the last eight years.

The Trinamul Congress supremo, who reiterated her prediction about BJP not returning to power in the next Lok Sabha Election, also demanded arrests of all the BJP ministers over the circulation of fake notes of `500 denomination after demonetisation.

Ms Banerjee told a party rally in Purulia, “BJP and Modi government are adulterated. It has been raising fuel and LPG prices and carried out demonetisation in the name of economic reforms. But the RBI described it as the biggest scam. All the currency notes of `500 denomination are impure.”

Lashing out at the PM she complained, “Still Modi Babu, you are sometimes sending CBI to the home of Lalu Prasad Yadav or arresting a Maharashtra minister and a Delhi minister of AAP or raiding home of Hemant Soren. ED and CBI are there for all of them.”

Furious over the central agencies' heat on her party leaders and Cabinet colleagues in various high profile cases, Ms Banerjee claimed, “You are bringing allegations of coal scam against some persons. You accuse them of being thief and taking money. But coal is under you. For others, you have the case of cattle smuggling to vilify them. But BSF is also under you and is responsible for stopping it. If anything wrong has taken place, how many in the BSF have been arrested? CBI and ED should raid the homes of BJP ministers for probe into the circulation of fake notes of `500 in wake of demonetisation. All of them must be arrested.”
