Siddhanth Kapoor arrested on drugs charges

Actor Siddhanth Kapoor, son of Shakti Kapoor and brother of Shraddha Kapoor, has been arrested in Bengaluru on charges of consuming drugs at a rave party on Sunday night.

Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a hotel on MG Road where a party was organised. Apparently, Siddhanth was invited to be the DJ at the party. Siddhanth, who was arrested along with five others, tested positive for narcotics. (A total of 35 people were tested for suspected drug abuse.)

Police said it was not clear whether he had consumed drugs before attending the party or did so at the party itself but a senior Bengaluru police official confirmed that he had been taken into custody.

The accused have been charged under Sections 22A, 22B, and 27B of the Narcotics, Drugs, and Psychotrop­ic Substances Act.

Police said Siddhanth would be brought before a court soon and that they would seek his custody to further investigat­e. Siddhanth was detained in 2009 for being present at a rave party, but he tested negative and was released. He was also a DJ at the party. Meanwhile, Shraddha Kapoor is currently filming a film with Ranbir Kapoor in Spain.

on some WhatsApp chats with Rhea Chakrabort­y and others. However, no concrete evidence was found against her. Sara Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone were also investigat­ed on the basis of WhatsApp chats in September 2020.

Around the same time, a video of a party hosted by Karan Johar created a furore, with those present accused of doing drugs. The NCB issued a notice to Karan asking him to furnish details regarding the video from the 2019 party. The notice was issued after a complaint was filed by politician Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who provided the investigat­ing agency with the video in question.

This new turn of events could very well open Pandora’s Box.
