Amid chaos, NCP, Cong issue GRs for sanction of funds worth crores
Even as the sword of uncertainty is hanging over its head, the MVA government is in a tearing hurry to release funds for development works in the state. In the last couple of days, as many as 182 government orders have been issued by the several departments for the allocation of funds under various schemes.
Between June 20 and 23, the departments have issued as many as 182 government resolutions (GRs), while on June 17, they sanctioned 107 such GRs. The GRs are called as an approval order sanctioning the release of funds for developmentrelated works.
According to sources, several ministers have directed to expedite the process of implementing the pending GRs, whereas the finance department has also accelerated the distribution of funds.
The finance department controlled by deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar issued a GR increasing local area development funds to a total of `319 crore. The legislators are expected to get `1,770 crore for these works.
The water supply and sanitation department, headed by Sena’s Gulabrao Patil, issued over 84 GRs on a single day on June 17. Most of them were pertaining to sanction of funds, administrative approvals and for salaries of staff working on various water supply schemes in the state.
However, apart from this, the highest number of GRs issued are from the departments of NCP ministers, followed by the Congress. Some GRs were issued by Congress-controlled departments such as tribal development, revenue, PWD, school education, OBC and fisheries.
During the last four days, only a couple of GRs from the departments controlled by the Shiv Sena were issued.
Taking an objection to this, BJP leader Pravin Darekar has written a letter to governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari alleging misappropriation of funds.
