Actress Meena’s husband Vidyasagar passes away
SOUTH FILM INDUSTRY MOURNS HIS UNTIMELY DEMISE
The south film industry woke up on Wednesday to the shocking news of the demise of Vidyasagar, husband of well-known actress Meena. He passed away at a private hospital in the city on Tuesday night. He was 48.
Sources close to the star said Vidyasagar had been diagnosed with a lung ailment in March this year and was being treated for it. He had earlier contracted Covid-19, but had recovered from the infection.
Meena’s industry colleagues and friends and fans offered condolences on social media.
Actor Khushbu Sundar, who has shared screen space with Meena, tweeted, “Waking up to a terrible news. Heartbroken to learn actor Meena’s husband, Sagar, is no more with us. He was battling lung ailment for long. Heart goes out to Meena n her young daughter. Life is cruel. At loss of words to express grief. Deepest condolences to the family” with the hashtag #RIP.
Lakshmi Manchu wrote “Woke up to devastating
news of #meena garu’s husband, Vidyasagar garu passed away due to Covid complications. My deepest and heartfelt condolences to the entire family.”
Actor Sarath Kumar, who worked with Meena in over six movies, paid a touching tribute to Vidyasagar on his Twitter handle and
extended support to the actor and her family. He wrote, “It is shocking to hear the news of the untimely demise of actor Meena’s husband Vidyasagar, our family’s heartfelt condolences to Meena and the near and dear of her family, may his soul rest in peace.”
Actors from other industries also condoled Vidyasagar’s death. Telugu superstar Venkatesh wrote “Extremely sad and shocked by the demise of Vidyasagar gaaru! My heartfelt condolences to
Meena gaaru and the entire family! Wishing them with all the strength to sail through this!” Annaatthe star Meena got married to Vidyasagar in June 2009, and the couple has a daughter Nainika, who played Vijay’s daughter in the 2016 cop drama Theri.
Vidyasagar’ body was cremated at Besant Nagar in Chennai. Hundreds of people including Meena’s fans and her colleagues from the industry attended the last rites.
