Ahead of polls, AAP starts AAP Ka Ram Rajya portal
CM trying to follow the ideals of Lord Ram, says party
Playing the Hindu card to match the BJP, the AAP on the occasion of Ram Navami launched a website called — “AAP Ka Ram Rajya”. Showcasing the concept of the “Ram Rajya”, the party claimed that Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was “trying to follow the ideals of Lord Ram”.
The AAP’s objective of launching the website just ahead of the first phase of Lok Sabha elections is also an attempt to “highlight the initiatives undertaken by the party, drawing inspiration from the principles of Ram Rajya,” particularly in Delhi and Punjab. The AAP has been in power in the national capital for about 10 years and in Punjab for two years.
Earlier, the Delhi government had invoked Lord Ram in its budget also. Finance minister Atishi had presented a `76,000 crore budget in the Delhi Assembly on March 4, saying it was aimed at realising the party’s dream of achieving the “Ram Rajya.”
Addressing a press conference along with senior AAP leaders Atishi, Saurabh Bharadwaj and Jasmine Shah, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said, “Today, on Ram Navami’s occasion, the AAP will start a website called ‘AAP ka Ram Rajya’. What is the concept of Arvind Kejriwal’s Ram Rajya? This is the Ram Rajya that was discussed and fulfilled by Lord Shri Ram. Mahatma Gandhi wanted to implement it to bring equality. To fulfil the dreams of Ram Rajya, Kejriwal has done tremendous work in Delhi in the last ten years and has set an example for the entire country.”
Mr Singh said this is the first Ram Navami without Mr Kejriwal, who is in jail in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. “Despite being in jail, the chief minister only cares about the people of Delhi, and he keeps sending out messages to the people through letters and us,” Mr Singh said.
Accusing the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of having hatred and revenge for Mr Kejriwal in their mindset, Mr Singh said, “Kejriwal ji has shown them by making government in two states (Delhi and Punjab) in the last 10 years. He has shown how to develop a city by providing good schools and hospitals, free electricity, and free travel for women. Earlier, people used to give America’s example for good schools and hospitals, but today, the entire world gives examples of Kejriwal’s model of schools and mohalla clinics.” “Anyone who wants to examine the progress under Kejriwal’s Ram Rajya can check out this website and see the work done by the Kejriwal government in the last ten years,” he added.
Ms Atishi, meanwhile, said, “Lord Ram faced lots of struggles for his Ram Rajya, he went to Vanvas for 14 years. Kejriwal ji has struggled a lot in the last ten years to fulfil his dream of Ram Rajya in Delhi. He faced all kinds of challenges that came his way, be it the central government’s non-stop interference in the functioning of elected government, their attempts to stop our work and sending him to jail in a false case. Kejriwal is facing all the struggles and challenges and making the dreams of Ram Rajya come true in Delhi… We want the people to check out the website and then vote based on our work in the ground.”
