It would be last elections if BJP wins 2024: Sanjay Singh

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Thursday accused the BJP of not following the Constitution and alleged that if the BJP comes to power in 2024 “then it could potentially mark the final stand for democracy”. He alleged that the saffron party’s bid to win 400 seats is a bid to strip away the fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution including the right to vote.

Addressing a press briefing on Thursday, Mr Singh said, “Idea is becoming increasingly strong in the minds of political leaders that the 2024 election is the final election. If, even by mistake, BJP government comes back, then these people will change the Constitution, abolish elections and reservations. They (BJP) will snatch away the rights of farmers, youth, and women”.

Mentioning that a bench of five judges of the Supreme Court held that the elected Delhi government has power over all administrative services and Prime Minister Modi changed the decision of the apex court by bringing a law in the Parliament, Mr Singh said that such an incident indicates that they want to change the Constitution. He further claimed that the home minister has said that BJP will rule for 50 years. Where did he come up with this idea? It is the people who decide who will win or lose the elections, he asked.

The AAP leader also mentioned the names of several BJP candidates across the country and alleged that they are openly asking for 400 seats to alter the constitution. He alleged that BJP wants to change the constitution and to snatch the rights of 85 per cent of the people of this country, reservations from Dalits, backward classes, tribal, and minorities, youth’s rights, and the rights of farmers to MSP.

“If anyone tries to tamper with the Constitution of the country written by Baba Saheb B.R Ambedkar, we will fight with our lives at stake. We will not allow anyone to tamper with Baba Saheb’s Constitution. We will not let Modi Ji abolish reservations or take away the rights of farmers and youth. Since 2019, the Modi government has shown a trailer of changing the constitution. After winning the 2024 elections, the RSS and Nagpur Constitution will be implemented in the country,” the AAP MP affirmed.
