IF KANGANA WINS THE ELECTION...

...and she were to get a prominent position in the BJP, the narrative against her in Bollywood will change too as the ball will be in her court

Kangana Ranaut is gearing up for a new role, this time in politics. The actor is the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) nominee in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, and is actively campaigning for the elections there.

None of her films in the last few years have fared well. From Dhakkad and Thalaivi to Tejas, they have been colossal failures. She called out Bollywood for ganging up against her, saying that she feared no one since she makes films for herself, and launched her own production house.

Luck has favoured her now, as her new role in politics will open many doors of opportunity.

While many in the actor fraternity stay clear of politics, Kangana, known for her volatility and controversial statements, has made her political leanings obvious. “I have a natural alignment with the ruling party,” she said in a recent interview. And now, from attacks on opposition leaders in her noholds-barred election speeches to pitching Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the only choice, she has been endorsing the BJP’s manifesto to perfection.

On the professional front, the actor is well known for her scathing attacks on fellow actors and others in the film fraternity. She was one of the first to call out the cliques and nepotism in the industry.

“People are wary of her; she is fearless as much as she is temperamental,” says an industry insider.

If Kangana were to win a Lok Sabha seat and get a position in the government, would the narrative against her change?

“SHE IS NOT THE KIND TO FORGIVE OR FORGET. SHE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST TO CALL OUT THE BULLIES OF BOLLYWOOD, WHOM NO ONE ELSE HAD DARED TO CONFRONT, AND SHE HAS ALREADY BEEN TO THE ROCK BOTTOM, SO HAS NOTHING TO FEAR, TO BE HONEST. WE ALL KNOW THAT THE PEOPLE IN BOLLYWOOD ARE FAIR-WEATHER FRIENDS. THE BALL IS NOW IN KANGANA’S COURT.”
