Lok Sabha extends deadline for babus to declare assets

The Lok Sabha on Wednesday approved an amendment to Section 44 of the Lokpal Act to extend the deadline for 50 lakh central government employees and NGOs receiving government funds for filing asset declarations beyond July 31, reports PTI. While the House provided immediate relief, the provision will be examined in detail by a parliamentary standing committee that will submit its report before next session of Parliament. The amended section deals with declaration of assets and provision of making the assets public.
