BSE set to auction investment limits for govt bonds

New Delhi, Aug 12: The BSE will auction investment limits for overseas investors for purchase of government debt securities worth R9,358 crore on August 16.

The auction will be conducted on BSE's 'ebidxchang­e' platform from 1530 hours to 1730 hours, after the close of market hours.

The debt auction quota gives overseas investors the right to invest in the debt, up to the limit purchased.

“Live bidding session for allocation of debt investment limits for FII/FPI/Sub accounts shall be conducted on August 16, 2016,” the exchange said in a circular.

The total investment in government debt has reached R1,36,736 crore till July 21, which was 94.96% of total permitted limit of R1.44 lakh crore, according to depositori­es data.

In an online auction conducted on July 25, gover nment debt securities had attracted bids of R7,227 crore from foreign investors, against R7,264 crore on offer. To boost foreign flow, the limit for overseas investors in central government securities has been increased from R1.40 lakh crore to R1.44 lakh crore from July 5. PTI
