IN QUEST OF GREEN

-

WHAT: An exhibition of recent paintings titled ‘In Quest Of Green’ by artist Rakhee Roy. Amidst the gigantic expanses of concrete that cities today are, there lies in a distorted rubble, all of Mother Nature’s beauty and magnificence. Even as we live under the curse of a capitalist-consumer civilisation making our peace with it, an artist’s heart aches at witnessing the withering of the earth’s green cover and losing it to the demons of modernism. Through her strokes and the magic in her brush, she paints out the pain of such a contorted but hapless reality. In her paintings aptly titled ‘In Quest Of Green’, Rakhee blends together eastern tradition and western modernity to display the devastation of mother earth’s treasure. Each painting has at its center the protagonist - a woman as Mother Nature - the creator, the silent sufferer yet the eternal forgiver. An ode to life and nature, Rakhee’s eclectic collection aims to bring forth a subtle imagery, yet one that creates an emphatic impact about the theme.
