A drunken man in Pune called up the city’s railway station and officials and said that a bomb has been planted at Dadar platform no. 3 and 4.

The inebriated man told the Government Railway Police (GRP) officials at 9.55 a.m. that he overheard a group of six to seven men talk about the bomb that they had planted at the Dadar and hung up.

Dadar GRP’s senior police inspector said, “The Pune GRP received three such calls after which the phone was switched off.”

“The Pune GRP tracked down his mobile phone and traced the man who was roaming around within the premises of Pune railway station itself,” he added.

Meanwhile security agencies swept through Dadar station, where six sniffer dogs were deployed by the GRP and Railway Police Force. Personnel from the Anti-Terrorism Squad were also sent on the spot.

A thorough search was made of the entire station which began around 10 a.m and continued for 4 hours to make sure there was absolutely no threat.

RPF commissioner Alokh Bohra said, “The RPF along with GRP and ATS combed through the entire station and did not find any bombs.”

“According the information we have received the man was drunk and was mentally unstable but it is our duty to work and take precaution during situations like these,” he added.

Officials said that after making the calls the man had switched off his mobile but the GPS chip was still active, making it easy to locate the man and apprehend him quickly as he was roaming around within Pune station premises.
