Ajit Pawar clears the deck for Mira Bhayandar infra boost
A multi-speciality hospital with trauma care and MMRDA flats to people staying in rickety structures will be few of many steps taken to improve the twin-city
Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar, has stepped in to clear hurdles towards boosting infrastructure of the Mira Bhayandar region. This followed after a delegation led by NCP legislator Gilbert Mendonca met Pawar at Mantralaya on Tuesday.
Issues which met with a positive response following detailed discussions include- housing residents of rickety buildings in MMRDA-built units, handing over the 200-bed municipal hospital, to the state gover nment authorities, incorporating 100 mld more water with existing quota from the ambitious Surya Water Project and inclusion of the MiraBhayandar region in the Waste Treatment Plant (WTP), mooted by the MMRDA at Taloja.
Stressing on details, Mendonca said, “The population of the twin-city is growing rapidly, although a significant quantity of water has been allotted, this quantum will be insufficient in the long ter m. So, in an attempt to chalk out a per manent solution, we had demanded an addi- tional supply which will now be incorporated in the allotted quota. And with the minister ensuring inclusion of the twin-city in MMRDA’s Taloja WTP project, the problem of garbage dumping will now be resolved.”
Apprising the Dy. CM, about the urgent need for a gover nment hospital in the region, Mayor Catlin Pereira sought conversion of MBMC’s 200-bed Temba Civic Hospital, into a civil one.
“It has been decided that additional floors will be added to the existing fourstorey hospital building to house multi-speciality health units supported with sophisticated trauma care facilities.” said the Mayor, adding that it will now be possible to house those living in dilapidated structures in the MMRDA units built in our region under the Rental Housing Scheme.
