UP lets in Owaisi but slams doors on Sadhvi

-

In yet another display of competitive communal politics, firebrand VHP leader Sadhvi Prachi made a concerted bid to enter Dadri, where she wished to show solidarity with the family of a resident of Bishada, Jay Prakash (24), who was found dead in mysterious circumstances on Tuesday. The other family she wanted to meet was that of Rahul Yadav, who had received bullet injury during protests against the administration in the aftermath of the beef lynching.

The administration, however, prevented her procession from entering the Dadri outskirts by clamping prohibitory orders. As the Sadhvi beat retreat, she tried to stir the hate pot by alleging that the administration had permitted the likes of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi to visit the area.

The Sadhvi told the waiting media: "I wanted to meet the families of Jay Prakash and Rahul Yadav but I was denied entry. I had requested the SDM in this respect. Owaisi, who comes from Hyderabad, can meet people, why am I not allowed entry? This is a conspiracy."

Prachi also demanded a compensation of Rs 50 lakh

each for the families of Yadav and Prakash. "Prakash was tortured to the extent that he committed suicide," she alleged. Talking to reporters, Prachi also targeted UP Minister Azam Khan over his resolve to send a missive to the United Nations lamenting the miseries heaped on minorities. "His letter to the United Nations has tarnished India's image," she said. She blamed Khan for denying her entry into Dadri. Earlier, the police also denied entry to members of 'Hindu Yuva Vahini', a youth group founded by BJP MP Yogi Adityanath. According to a wire agency, Adityanath has offered all help to the majority community, "including guns," if they were harassed by the police.
