- STAFF REPORTER

NCP Leader Chhagan Bhujbal who is admitted to St George Hospital since Monday following complaints of chest pain is likely to be discharged in two days, said his treating doctor Rohan Sequeira.

Bhujbal has been shifted from Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to general ward of the hospital and his condition has improved since the time of his admission. A team of doctors from JJ Hospital visited St George Hospital on Thursday and performed a 2D echo on him.

His blood pressure has been reported as 150/90 mm HG and his 2D echo reports have come normal. “He is now in the general ward and he has been kept under 48 hour ‘holter monitoring’ wherein we will be continuously tape recording his electrocardiogram. Through holter monitoring, we will check the sensation of his heart beat and rhythm.”

A Holter monitor is a device commonly used to keep track of heart rhythm. Holter monitor is used by doctors to keep track of the heart function if you’re having heart problems or they think there may be a problem. “If everything goes well during holter monitoring, then we will be discharging him in another two days,” added Dr Sequiera.

On Monday morning, Bhujbal was being questioned by Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials when he suddenly complained of chest pain. Upon being taken to the hospital, it was found that his blood pressure had a high reading of 180/120 mm Hg. The normal pressure ranges as 120/80 mm HG. Following this, a couple of tests including cardiology and blood tests were conducted which ruled out the possibility of a heart attack.
