This field is open to anyone who is adept at working with the computer and other technology that is needed to work for video editing. Although in many cases one might not need a profession­al degree to enter this field, you should not mistake it for the fact that knowledge is now needed. Video editors need to be skilled, and these skills are acquired either on-the-job or through a course. Those who work in the field feel that a course would provide as aspirant with the right path, and the necessary skills much more easily than learning on the job. Most editors advise aspirants to opt for a course if possible, since there are specialise­d short-term courses teaching with all kinds of platforms possible. It might also open up a student’s mind as to which software package would be most suitable for a particular kind of job.
