-

Playing in pouring rains, Jamnbai Narsee girls spearheaded by Samika Bhimani, played well enough to beat Borivali’s St. Lawrence 2-0 to make the last eight in the girls under-17 section of the Subroto Mukherjee Cup football tournament (for Suburban schools) of Maharashtra government’s DSO (Divisional Sports Office), organized and sponsored by Vision Sports Reconnect and Fairplay Sports Management at Francis D’Assisi high school ground (Borivali) ground here on Friday. With slushy field, the Bandra girls did well enough to dominate most of the time, especially in the first half to notch up three goals, while the second half went goalless with both sides trying their best could not make much headway in slushy underfoot conditions.

.Jamnabai Narsee’s under14 boys too had a fruitful day as they got the better of Ryan International (Goregaon) 2-1, while a hat-trick by Gerald Barretto highlighted St Dominic Savio’s 4-0 win over Children Welfare Centre (Versova).
