Rapist of teenager caught in 24 hrs

MUMBAI:

Mumbai Police have arrested a person accused of raping a 16-year-old girl. The victim and the accused are residents of Ambedkar Nagar, Cuffe Parade. The FIR was filed on on August 19, 2016. The minor girl has alleged that Julian raped and threatened her twice over a period of three months. Julian (26) was allegedly in an affair with the victim’s stepmother (33) since the last two years. The victim’s father (40) caught a whiff of the affair and confronted the stepmother. During a heated argument between her parents, the girl broke down and admitted that Julian had raped her previously on two occasions, on June 23, 2016 and July 16, 2016, respective­ly. Julian had threatened the minor victim with dire consequenc­es if she said a word about it to anyone. The victim accompanie­d by her father filed the FIR and recorded her statement with Cuffe Parade Police station on the night of August 19, 2016. The city police had kept his cell phone on surveillan­ce that helped the sleuths to locate Julian’s whereabout­s. A team of police officers led by Inspector Amol Tamke tracked the whereabout­s of Julian to Thane, Bhayander as well as Virar. The accused was in constant touch with his mother, who tipped the police to nail him. After that an elaborate trap was laid at Churchgate station where the accused Julian was eventually nabbed. The accused was caught within 24 hours of the case being registered.

TISS student row to be probed

MUMBAI:

An inquiry has been set up by the police into the alleged manhandlin­g incident of TISS students by a sub-inspector from Govandi police station. Deputy Commission­er of Police, Zone 6, Shahji Umap confirmed the developmen­t,“An inquiry has been set up in the TISS incident.” He will personally monitor the matter. On August 9, two laptops and a mobile phone had been stolen from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) hostel. The next day, the two students, Mohammed Sadiq (23) and Sushil Kumar (22) whose laptops had been stolen, approached the Govandi police station to register a FIR. The two students had alleged that they were manhandled by the Govandi police when they approached them to register a theft complaint.

FIR for carrying revolver

MUMBAI:

The Khar police station have registered an FIR against one person for carrying one revolver and five live cartridges on Tuesday. On Monday, Police Inspector Mahesh Desai received a tip off that the accused was coming to meet his friend in Mumbai for the dealing of weapons near Dandpada Cremation, Khar Danda in Khar (West).Desai along with his team laid a trap near Dandpada crematoriu­m and arrested the accused at 5 pm.The police seized one Indian made revolver and five live cartridges from him.

Fraud detected in Dadar bank

MUMBAI:

The Shivaji Park police have registered a First Informatio­n Report in an alleged fraud case to the tune of Rs 85,49,81,026 by CKP bank in Dadar. A case has been registered against the bank president, director and other nineteen officials of CKP Co-operative Bank Limited at Marble Arch building at Senapati Bapat Marg in Dadar(W). According to the police,” The CKP bank forged the books of accounts in the accounting year 2011 and 2012.“The matter was brought to light by the auditor Prakash Mandhre (46). According to Senior Police Inspector, Gangadhar Sonawane, Shivaji Park police station “Between April 1, 2011 to March 31, 2012, the alleged fraud took place. During auditing, the complainan­t came to know about the forging of documents and books of accounts. The figures showing loans taken and given by the bank, statements of liabilitie­s and assets were all forged. The matter was brought to light by the auditor.
