The Mumbai Police has deployed a tight police bandobast across Mumbai for the Gokul Ashtami celebrations today.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ashok Dudhe, Mumbai Police spokesperson” 90% of the police force will be deployed to keep a vigil on the dahihandi celebrations. If required, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) may be deployed. A total of 3,387 dahi- handi mandals have been given the necessary permissions to conduct the celebrations.”
“The mandals will have to follow the Supreme Court Directives of restricting the age limit of participants to 18 years and height of human pyramids to 20 feet. I have asked the respective senior police inspectors of local police stations to ensure that the rules are abided,” said Dudhe.
“We have made necessary arrangements of videorecording of the celebrations at respective mandals, which will be monitored by the local police stations. If there is any violation, necessary action will be taken after scrutinizing the videos. If any miscreants are found causing any trouble or scuffling during the celebrations, strict action will be taken against them.” he added
Necessary instructions have been given to the traffic department for the smooth movement of traffic regulation across the city. A letter has been sent to the traffic department in this regard.
