Modi offer for govt ‘placement’

-

If you think you are an expert in your field, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants you to join him and help him in providing better governance. On offer as of now are a dozen positions, all at senior levels.

He needs script writers, editorial writers, video editors, advertising professionals, social media experts, and graphic designers among the dozen positions advertised.

Modi has made the offer on MyGov, the government's online citizenship engagement platform he had launched in July 2014 to provide the citizens multiple avenues to share their expertise and creativity.

The offer, calling for resumes, is mounted with a question: "Do you want to work for the government?" Already 1999 persons had applied (when this writer clicked the site) for what will be contractual jobs in various positions across the central ministries and organizations, and, the offer is open for another 218 days.

Applications have been invited on MyGov "to create a data bank of resumes of various seniority levels and specializations." It says this data bank may be sourced by the government periodically to engage citizen experts in various domains for contractual services in various positions across ministries, departments, organisations, institutions and specialised entities.

The Congress leaders were quick to point out that this could be an exercise for the backdoor entry of the RSS and BJP workers who cannot be absorbed in the regular government vacancies on the Pay Commission fixed pay scales as otherwise they say why engage people on contract when there is already a law banning the contractual employments as illegal except in certain categories.

Making it clear that submission of resumes in this forum "does not guarantee engagement or employment," MyGov has invited those interested to submit their detailed resumes in PDF format, indicating the position in which they are interest on the first page.

"To submit the resumes, citizens may use the Hashtag of the respective position in the comment box and then upload their resume in PDF format. For example, if a person is applying for Academic Expert, he may submit his resume in PDF format while writing in comment box #AcademicExpert Resume Attached. The respective hashtags can be seen along with the list of the positions."

"The resumes will be scrutinised by MyGov, and shortlisted resumes will be contacted for further discussion / interview. The compensation package will be discussed in the direct interactions," it said.
