Leather bag fiasco: Police making sketch of accused

- DIWAKAR SHARMA

The Mumbai police, which is investigating the ‘leather bag’ fiasco following a Metropolitan Magistrate’s order, is now making a sketch of the auto rickshaw driver and three people who allegedly heckled creative director Barun Kashyap while he was on the way to his office in an auto-rickshaw from suburban Andheri last week.

24-year-old Kashyap had given the four-digit registration number of auto-rickshaw in which he was on the way to his workplace but the city police could not locate the vehicle. “It would have been easier had he (Kashyap) jotted down the alpha-numeric registration number of the auto-rickshaw,” said one of the top officials of Mumbai police.

Also, the CCTV footage was not clear to trace the autorickshaw driver. “But the prima facie suggests that the driver is local resident,” the officer added.

“So now with the help of victim, we resorted to make sketch of the accused because we could not decipher the people involved in this case, as CCTV footage was not clear,” said the officer, adding that the sketch is almost ready and some final touch is required.

The sketch will finally be circulated to media, hopefully within couple of days, once it is ready.

Speaking over the veracity of allegation, the officer said, “Nothing can be said at this point of time and investigation is underway. But Kashyap is fully co-operating Mumbai police in the investigation.”
